President of Atx̂am Corporation Company: Atx̂am Corporation is an Alaska Native village corporation established in 1973 under the terms of the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act (ANCSA) for the Unangax̂ village of Atka, Alaska. Atx̂am Corporation’s mission is to promote economic development of our shareholders and descendants by maintaining a profitable corporation, and to provide dividends and support economic and educational opportunities, while promoting responsible stewardship of our lands and resources. Atx̂am Corporation currently operates three subsidiaries: Atx̂am Environmental, Atx̂am Heavy Equipment & Construction, and Atx̂am Renewable Energy. Position Overview: The COO will oversee the operations and strategic growth of Atx̂am Corporation’s present and future subsidiaries. The COO will be responsible for aligning operations with corporate goals, driving efficiency, and supporting growth across all business units. The COO will report directly to the President of Atx̂am Corporation and will provide periodic updates to the Board of Directors. Key Responsibilities: Operational Leadership:
Manage daily operations, optimize resource allocation, and establish performance benchmarks for each subsidiary. The ideal candidate will have experience in playing a strategic role in setting goals and implementing strategies to achieve operational growth and expansion for the company. Strategic Growth & Business Development:
Develop and execute growth plans, identify new business opportunities, and collaborate with leadership on long-term strategies. Financial Oversight:
Ensure financial targets are met, review reports, and implement cost-reduction strategies. Reporting & Accountability:
Provide monthly updates to the President and periodic reports to the Board. Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Promote synergy across subsidiaries, align management on priorities, and address operational challenges. This role may include assistance with marketing and communications on an as needed basis. Risk Management & Compliance:
Ensure compliance with all state and federal laws, regulations and safety standards across all relevant industries, with a particular focus in the construction, energy, and environmental sectors. Experience in overseeing regulatory compliance for federal contracting under the FARs and Small Business Administration Act is a plus. Innovation & Sustainability:
Foster innovation and sustainability initiatives within subsidiaries, focusing on competitive advantage and eco-friendly practices. Strategic Relationship Building:
Build and maintain relationships with key customers, clients and current and prospective partners. Qualifications: Minimum Education:
Bachelor’s degree in business, operations, engineering, or related field. Master’s degree preferred. Experience:
5+ years in senior operational roles, managing diverse business units or subsidiaries. Experience in operations management, growth strategy, and multi-million-dollar operations. Previous experience working with Alaska Native corporations is preferred but not required. Employment Eligibility:
Must be able to pass a background check and prove eligibility to work in the United States. Skills: Strong leadership and the ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with customers, partners and employees; Strategic thinking, excellent problem-solving skill, and ability to engage in cross-functional collaboration; Understanding of advanced business planning and regulatory issues; Solid grasp of data analysis and performance metrics; High level of organization and productivity; Outstanding written and verbal communication skills; Knowledge of compliance, safety protocols, ANCSA specific shareholder obligations, and industry-specific regulations is a plus. Requires flexibility and travel for all subsidiaries (construction, renewable energy, and environmental remediation projects) to various conferences, Annual Meetings, strategic planning sessions, and occasionally to operational sites.
