Honolulu, HI . Responsibilities Design the power and electrical components of a new, next-generation sub-kilowatt Hall Effect Thruster, including the Power Processing Unit, anode, and cathode. Analyze Hall Effect Thruster performance and efficiency. Plan and conduct electrical testing at the component and system levels. Deliver components and thrusters in a rapid, risk-tolerant, and iterative manner. Collaborate with the Hall Effect Thruster team, effectively communicating design decisions and issues. Oversee the entire chain of electrical engineering tasks, including PCB schematic and board layout, component selection, analysis, design for manufacturing, and design for testing. Serve as a technical and professional mentor within the team. Capable of independent work and collaboration within a diverse and multidisciplinary team, including scientists, engineers, business professionals, and ex-military personnel. Qualifications Must possess an active, transferable TS/SCI CI Poly U.S. government-issued security clearance before applying and starting. Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Physics. A minimum of 13 years of experience in spacecraft electrical propulsion system design, analysis, manufacturing, testing, and troubleshooting. Proven experience building electronics for Nested Hall Effect Thrusters or related technologies such as gridded ion thrusters. Comprehensive knowledge of the satellite system design lifecycle, including environmental testing, launch, and operations. Strong understanding of system-level trades in satellite propulsion systems. A commitment to designing products that revolutionize satellite cost paradigms. Ability to work effectively within and lead a multidisciplinary team. Hands-on experience bringing multiple propulsion systems from concept to flight or test stages. Experience with multiple thruster technologies to inform the vision for the next generation. Full space mission lifecycle experience. Starting annual salary: $400,000 + Sign on Bonus: $325,000. Seniority level
