Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a Director of Biomanufacturing in VA. The Director (you) will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day biomanufacturing operations, managing production processes, ensuring quality control, and leading a team of biomanufacturing professionals. You will also be responsible for developing and implementing bioprocessing strategies, optimizing production efficiency, and collaborating with cross-functional teams. Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement the biomanufacturing strategy in alignment with the company goals and objectives. Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team of scientists, engineers, and technicians to foster a culture of innovation and excellence.

Operational Management: Oversee day-to-day biomanufacturing operations, ensuring adherence to production schedules, quality standards, and safety regulations. Optimize processes for efficiency and cost-effectiveness while maintaining high product quality and yield.

Process Development and Scale-Up: Collaborate with R&D to transition bioprocesses from development to commercial production. Ensure successful scale-up of fermentation and downstream processes, including purification and formulation.

Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory guidelines, including cGMP and FDA requirements. Oversee the preparation and submission of regulatory documentation as required.

Quality Assurance: Work closely with the quality assurance team to develop and maintain robust quality systems and procedures. Address any quality issues or deviations promptly to ensure continuous improvement.

Budgeting and Resource Management: Develop and manage the biomanufacturing budget, allocating resources efficiently to meet operational goals. Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality.

Collaboration and Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders regarding biomanufacturing processes. Foster collaboration across departments, including R&D, quality, supply chain, and regulatory affairs. Drive a culture of continuous improvement by implementing best practices, training programs, and process innovations. Stay abreast of industry trends and technological advancements to inform strategic decisions. Qualifications:

Master’s or Ph.D. in Biotechnology, Biochemical Engineering, Microbiology, or a related field. 10+ years of experience in biomanufacturing, with at least 5 years in a leadership role. Proven track record of managing large-scale biomanufacturing operations and successful product launches. In-depth knowledge of fermentation, downstream processing, and bioproduct development. Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate others. Excellent problem-solving abilities and strategic thinking. Proficiency in regulatory compliance and quality management systems. A desire to stay with the company for three to five years to help it grow in a stable, scalable manner. Why Join?
