A day in the life of this role:

In accordance with established policies and procedures, will perform Computed Radiography and Bone Density radiologic procedures using standard, portable and/or specialized x-ray equipment to apply prescribed ionizing radiation in order to assist Outer Cape Health Care's ("OCHS") interdisciplinary care team in the diagnosis and treatment of patient illnesses and injuries. The incumbent will assume responsibility for each assigned patient, of all age ranges, and will perform patient assessments, and correlate clinical findings with exam/procedure requests according to radiologist and ordering provider specifications.

Summary of duties: Perform Computed Radiography and Bone Density exams Prepare patient for examinations as required and insures patient comfort and modesty at all times Produce the highest quality radiographs utilizing the lowest practical dose of radiation in accordance with the procedure ordered Properly utilizes OCHS computer systems for Radiology, including PACS/RIS, EMR and modality work stations Perform quality checks on equipment in accordance with department's procedures Assist Radiology Coordinator with tasks such as retrieving previous exams, answering phones, relaying messages, and scheduling, as needed Prepare examination area by ensuring cleanliness, replenishing supplies needed, ensuring proper identification of the patient, escorting patient to the exam room, explaining examination to the patient and answering any questions Assist and monitors patient throughout the exam to assure safety Properly position patient for examination in order to obtain desired diagnostic results Provide appropriate protective equipment to patient in accordance with OCHS standards by utilizing protective lead shields/collimation on patient Set accurate technical exposure as appropriate for the procedure Assess the quality of radiographs produced independently Identify equipment problems and takes appropriate action to expedite necessary service or repair Wear radiation monitoring device throughout the entire shift Utilize time in an effective manner by coordinating patients and procedures to achieve maximum productivity Contact or discuss preliminary reports with ordering provider, when needed Clean examination rooms or common areas when they become cluttered or soiled Follow all OCHS policies and procedures Qualifications

Required Qualifications, Education, and Experience

Associates' degree in Science, or equivalent post-secondary education Graduate of an accredited diagnostic radiography program A.R.R.T. registered and State license in radiography 2 years' of clinical internship and 1 year of post educational experience as a radiologic technologist Preferred Qualifications, Education, and Experience
