Job Description Job Title: Radiology Technologist
Job Specialty: Diagnostic Radiology
Job Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: 10-hour day shift, 4 days per week
Guaranteed Hours: 40 per week
Experience: Previous Radiologic Technologist experience preferred; One year post-certification experience required to evaluate and/or instruct student radiographers
License: Licensed Radiology Technologist
Certifications: Registered Technologist, Radiology - R.T. (R) (ARRT); BLS American Heart Association
Must-Have: Knowledgeable in all aspects of Diagnostic Imaging including Surgery and Trauma; effective patient care skills; proficient in radiation safety practices
Job Description:
- Provide quality patient care in the medical imaging department. - Perform high-quality images and exams, remaining sensitive to patient needs. - Follow safe radiation practices and adhere to ALARA principles. - Demonstrate leadership abilities and act as a role model for technologists. - Serve as a clinical resource for students, staff technologists, and hospital personnel. - Ensure current standards of practice for the unit. - Perform diagnostic radiology procedures, ensuring safety for yourself and others. - Produce quality images accurately and in a timely manner. - Prepare patients for exams, providing information and instructions. - Assist and position patients during exams, responding to their needs. - Observe patient and equipment during procedures, documenting occurrences and recording patient conditions. - Facilitate smooth patient flow, scheduling, and optimal use of equipment and resources. - Communicate effectively with physicians, imaging personnel, students, and hospital staff. - Assist with patient transport as needed. - Perform IV starts and contrast administration as required. - Perform technologist duties across modalities as assigned. - Provide on-call coverage outside of standard scheduled hours as needed. - Input charges and required data for procedures and supplies accurately. - Complete required hospital/medical imaging paperwork. - Prepare rooms, equipment, and exam materials as needed. - Maintain technical operation of equipment and notify service when necessary. - Notify supervisors of equipment problems and log service calls. - Maintain clean work areas for employees and patients. - Conduct quality checks and equipment maintenance documentation as required. - Proactively identify problems and follow up with management. - Establish constructive rapport with physicians, staff, and department personnel. - Maintain high skill levels through ongoing education and meeting attendance. - Share information with staff and demonstrate positive attitudes toward the profession. - Actively participate in department/hospital quality and process improvement initiatives. - Engage in professional development and continuing education. - Assist in the clinical and didactic education of student radiographers. - Provide guidance for the development of clinical skills and support hospital policies and procedures. - Encourage and guide students in performing examinations and provide feedback.
