Construction/Materials
Testing Engineer in our Stockton, CA office. POSITION SUMMARY The Senior Construction Materials Testing Engineer performs managerial and engineering oversight of the Materials Testing and Special Inspection Department. Managerial responsibilities include client interaction, project management, and personnel supervision. Project management includes preparation of proposals and supervision of invoicing and delivery of services. Engineering responsibilities include quality control of laboratory and field services, including soils and concrete laboratory and field testing and special inspection services. Engineering responsibilities also include Engineer of Record for services and test results. Current CA Professional Civil Engineer (PE) registration is required. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Perform oversight of lab and field staff, dispatching, and reporting of field and lab services. Grow business with added staff and services to existing and new clients with assistance of management support. Prepare proposals, budgets, and qualification documents for development of work and response to requests for proposal. Provide consulting during construction, and responses to submittals and requests for information during construction. Provide supervision and coordination with construction inspection staff. Assist in business and client development and attend company business development meetings. Coordinate with other design professionals, especially structural engineers, architects, civil engineers, and landscape planners, during construction of projects. Stamp final certification reports. Delegate work to other staff as appropriate. Senior professionals shall provide collaboration and peer review of all work performed independently. Communicate effectively with owners, designers, consultants, contractors, and co-workers. QUALIFICATIONS Seven years' work experience is required in the field of construction materials engineering as a licensed professional. Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, or related major is required. Knowledge of applicable software. Current CA Professional Civil Engineer registration. PHYSICAL ABILITIES This position will require the ability to sit at a desk working four to eight hours with appropriate rest and meal breaks. Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), (Protective clothing, possibly a respirator, etc.). Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs. on occasion. Ability to travel as needed throughout the markets we serve (primarily Northern California). NECESSARY
