Join Maximus as a Cybersecurity Technical Leader and take significant action in safeguarding critical systems for a Homeland Security contract. We are seeking an experienced professional who excels in both strategic leadership and technical execution in the field of cybersecurity. This is an exciting opportunity to make a difference while working with a dynamic team in a pivotal role that requires both hands-on expertise and a robust understanding of risk management and compliance. This position requires on-site work five days a week in Annapolis Junction, MD, and an active secret clearance. Lead as the primary technical expert in cybersecurity for the contract, ensuring adherence to Homeland Security policies. Design and implement effective cybersecurity strategies, frameworks, and policies to protect vital systems. Manage security risk assessments, vulnerability management, incident response, and threat intelligence initiatives. Mentor and guide teams of cybersecurity engineers and analysts. Conduct security architecture reviews and technical assessments to identify and reduce risks. Work collaboratively with stakeholders to ensure alignment of security requirements with business objectives. Support continuous monitoring, conduct security audits, and contribute to regulatory compliance activities. Participate in an on-call rotation to assist with security operations and incident responses. To be successful in this role: Bring over 10 years of experience in cybersecurity or related fields. Possess an active Secret clearance. Be a U.S. Citizen without dual citizenship. Be available to work on-site in Annapolis Junction, MD, five days a week. Participate in a rotational on-call schedule for emergencies. Hold a CISSP certification (other relevant certifications such as CISM, CISA, or CEH are advantageous). Demonstrate a strong understanding of cybersecurity frameworks (NIST, RMF, FISMA) and best practices. Have proven experience leading cybersecurity teams and executing large-scale initiatives. Show hands-on proficiency with cybersecurity tools including SIEM, IDS/IPS, and vulnerability scanners. Exhibit strong communication and leadership capabilities to engage with both technical teams and executive stakeholders. Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with Homeland Security or other federal agencies. Background in cloud security (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud). Possession of advanced technical certifications (e.g., CISSP-ISSAP, GIAC, OSCP).
