Annual Bonus Ascendo Resources has been engaged to help our client recruit their next Controller. Our client is a growth oriented, privately held company with a track record of demonstrated success and providing high level consulting to the Financial Services industry. This is a unique opportunity for a motivated person to fill an integral role within the senior management team of a growing business. The Controller will be responsible for all aspects of the accounting and financial functions of the business. Position demands excellent quantitative and analytical skills, the ability to communicate well and work in concert with the management team, and the willingness to both take direction and thrive independently. Responsibilities Own month-end close, monthly financial statement preparation, and financial presentations for board review Build and refine reporting tools in collaboration with the management team to enhance business intelligence Prepare annual budget, including developing timeline, working with department leads for their portion of budget, and consolidating into a package for board approval Document and standardize the accounting procedures Manage annual audit process, as well as quarterly and annual state and federal taxes preparation Manage and process vendor invoices, ensuring timely payments and accurate GL entries Actively involved in inventory management and procurement process, with both existing and new vendor relationships, ensuring accurate pricing and timely acquisition of materials Manage banking relationships, including account management, bank reporting requirements, and ad hoc bank requests Oversee cash/ treasury management, including weekly cash flow forecasting Maintain accounting system (QuickBooks) and accounting standards and policies Oversee PEO relationship and assist with any HR, payroll, benefits, and commercial insurance activities Analyze and interpret financial trends and results to drive company performance and identify potential risks and recommend solutions, both independently and with others in the organization Contribute meaningfully to the leadership of the organization and the Company’s strategic direction and goals Requirements 7+ years of relevant experience as a controller or in finance and accounting leadership CPA certification and degree in accounting a strong preference Excellent MS Excel skills, including charting, lookup formulas, pivot tables, what-if-analysis, VBA and macros. A desire to work in a fast-paced environment and the agility to pivot quickly within and across projects Willingness to operate as a small (4 person) accounting and finance team A motivated self-starter with proven problem solving and time management skills Demonstrated leadership, verbal, written and presentation skills Experience working in a PEO environment: CPA Firm, Law Firm or other PEO type company Experience with annual financial third-party audits and tax preparation References to support trust and high integrity Must enjoy working autonomously and within a dynamic team environment Demonstrated track record of "rolling up sleeves" and working both strategically and tactically Affable, enjoyable to work with Seniority level
