Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM; Schedule will vary according to department needs. May be required to work alternate/compressed, off hour shifts, and/or weekends.

Job Summary

We seek an exceptional individual to join our Material Control Center team as the Warehouse Worker. The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude and an active, energetic mind characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.

Under general supervision of the Supply Chain Operations Manager, or their designee, for Capital Programs and Facilities Management (CPFM), the Warehouse Worker performs various functions, including receiving, material handling, and inventory. Responsibilities include:

  1. Loading and unloading materials, furniture, packages, and equipment to and from delivery trucks and carriers.
  2. Operating forklifts, delivery trucks, lift gates, dollies, hand trucks, safety equipment, and warehouse equipment.
  3. Sorting and staging items for counting and inspection.
  4. Providing accurate recording of receivables and deliverables and cataloging items.
  5. Transporting and delivering materials from central warehouse to inventory control, storage areas, and various campus locations/departments.
  6. Disposing of old materials and equipment.
  7. Assisting with inventory counts and tracking materials, parts, and equipment.
  8. Performing visual and written inspections of materials.
  9. Stocking and replenishing bins, shelves, and storage containers.
  10. Organizing and cleaning warehouse and storage areas.
  11. Using computer, bar coding, and scanning equipment for daily assignments.
  12. Providing quality and excellent customer service.

Essential Qualifications

Experience in the receipt, storage, or issuance and delivery of materials from a centralized stockroom or warehouse, including:

  1. Operation of forklift trucks and similar power-operated material handling equipment.
  2. Driving large vehicles and vehicles pulling trailers.
  3. Ability to match names and numbers quickly and accurately.
  4. Physical ability to perform physical labor and lift/manipulate heavy items (up to 100 pounds).
  5. Ability to observe safety requirements and work effectively with a wide range of people.
  6. Working knowledge of methods, practices, and equipment used in receiving, storing, packing, and shipping materials.

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience using barcoding and scanning equipment and systems, work order or service order systems, and inventory control systems.

License/Certifications

A valid California driver's license.

Special Working Conditions

Ability to lift up to 100 pounds and do physical labor with or without accommodations throughout the day. Position works inside and outside in all types of weather. Ability to successfully complete CSUF forklift safety certificate within 30 days of employment.
