Position Overview: The Welding Lead will oversee and guide a team of welders, ensuring the efficient and safe completion of welding projects. The successful candidate will possess extensive hands-on welding experience, exceptional leadership skills, and a strong understanding of safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, train, and mentor a team of welders, ensuring high-quality welding work that meets industry standards.
• Monitor the performance and efficiency of welders, providing guidance and support as needed.
• Review and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to ensure accurate welding procedures.
• Ensure all welding work complies with safety regulations and quality standards.
• Conduct inspections of finished welds to guarantee precision and structural integrity.
• Troubleshoot and resolve welding issues, implementing corrective actions when necessary.
• Maintain equipment, tools, and work areas in a clean and safe condition.
• Collaborate with other departments (e.g., production, engineering) to meet project deadlines and goals.
• Assist with estimating material requirements and managing inventory.
• Provide regular feedback to management on welding team performance and progress.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (Welding Certification preferred).
• 5+ years of welding experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
• Proficient in welding techniques, including MIG, TIG, Stick, and Flux-Core preferred.
• Strong knowledge of welding safety procedures and quality control standards.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot welding-related issues.
• Ability to work well under pressure and meet project deadlines.
• Physical ability to perform welding tasks in a variety of conditions, including standing, bending, and lifting.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with automated or robotic welding systems a plus.
• Knowledge of welding codes and certifications (e.g., AWS, ASME).
• Previous experience working with steel beams.
