The Engineering GIS Specialist investigates and gathers data to produce engineering reports and drawings. In doing so, they apply the prevailing conventions and symbols adopted by the Engineering Department in the creation, maintenance, archiving, printing, plotting, and publication of drawings, schematics, and comprehensive functional and thematic maps as needed by the department. They also process all vector-based graphical and tabular information necessary to develop and maintain engineering related spatial datasets within the City's GIS.
Qualifications Associate's degree with major coursework in Design, Engineering, Geography, or a related field
Or an equivalent vocational certification with major coursework in Engineering or Engineering Technology
3 years of recent, related experience and/or training
Or
equivalent combination of education and experience
12 to 18 months of management experience
People
and/or
project management
Valid Oklahoma Driver's License and a driving record acceptable to the City's insurance carrier Responsibilities
Prepare digital maps and diagrams using GIS software Maintain the record drawing storage and retrieval system Maintain various digital/hardcopy archives, files, and records Maintain drafting standards and related workflow documentation Assist in implementing new addresses within the City's GIS Work with the City's IT/GIS department to ensure accuracy in the City's GIS Digitize infrastructure based on submitted plats and other resources Assist various City departments and local agencies with surveys and the preparation of plans Draft and design plans for public works projects Prepare and process as-built design details for integration, classification, attribution, and validation in established GIS spatial data layers Prepare or correct drawings and maps by referencing other records and instruments Necessary Skills & Knowledge
Advanced skill with ESRI and ArcMap Knowledge of GIS software and related concepts Knowledge of Planning and/or Civil Engineering drafting Ability to create accurate plotted documents Ability to convert legacy hardcopies into digital, vector-based files Ability to meet the required physical standards for this position Ability to pass extensive background process and pre-employment drug and audio screenings Benefits
