SUMMARY:

To supervise and work with a diversity of contract broiler producers to assure that each flock is properly cared for in accordance with Miller Poultry’s management guidelines and to represent Gerber's Poultry in a positive and professional manner.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Continuous premise improvement responsibilities / accountability.
  • Education and training of producers on poultry husbandry programs.
  • Contribute to the ongoing improvements of company programs.
  • Maintain necessary flock records.
  • Make regular premise visits and document observations, recommendations and

communication on a flock service visit report.

  • Monitor flock health and coordinate corrective actions with contract grower.
  • Monitor and educate contract growers on Biosecurity, Farm Safety, and Records.
  • Continuous flock performance.
  • Maintains company animal welfare program as it pertains to broilers.
  • Troubleshoot problems (equipment, production, etc)
  • Supply support and service to the contract growers.
  • Serves as liaison between contract growers and the organization.
  • Provides chick placement times, catch times, and feed withdrawal times.
  • Evaluates grower performance.
  • Provides technical assistance to growers.
  • Provides weight and head count estimates.
  • Coordinates feed deliveries
  • Obtains blood samples when necessary.
  • Necropsy on broiler birds
  • Manure/Litter Management


REQUIREMENTS:

  • Possess effective written and verbal communication skills and leadership skills.
  • Use and expand problem solving skills and data analysis skills.
  • Be flexible in work hours to accommodate proper flock supervision. Job is 24/7.
  • Develop personal skills and capability through on-going training, as provided by the company.
  • Strong commitment to teamwork.
  • Detail oriented and well organized.
  • High degree flexibility.
  • Reliable, dependable, is a self-starter with the ability to work independent
  • Current driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
  • General knowledge of poultry science.
  • Ability to work without direct supervision.
  • Ability to work in outdoor environment.
