Salary Exempt Job Summary Childpeace Montessori is an AMI accredited independent school located in the urban center of Portland, OR. We empower children from 12 months to 14 years to reach their full potential in an authentic Montessori educational environment. Our vision is centered around developing champions of positive change, one child at a time. We are currently seeking a Head of School (HoS), with a bias for an extended interim position, to lead the execution of our Strategic Plan while cultivating a thriving Montessori led practice and culture. Essential Duties and Responsibilities A full job description is under development and will be provided prior to our interview process, but a successful candidate will demonstrate past successes across the following: Strategic and Operational Oversight
Connect the big picture to daily operations and translate across our stakeholder groups. Embrace the systems and processes that serve our current state while leading for changes where needed. Prioritize strategic initiatives and articulate both wins and pivots to the Board of Trustees. Possesses both the entrepreneurial enthusiasm and managerial capability to bring visions to life. Grow Admissions and Enrollment
Lead our admissions team in maturing an admissions process that reflects the caliber of our programming and delivers both immediate and sustainable enrollment growth. Fiscal Management
Deliver a balanced budget and present a prioritized view of potential investments. Drive approved initiatives with pace. Champion Faculty and Staff Excellence
We have highly tenured staff that are committed to ensuring high standards of AMI pedagogical practice. Champion strategic curriculum needs across all levels, while nurturing access to meaningful practice and career growth. Community Outreach and Engagement
Present the best of Childpeace to the local and national educational communities and connect our offering to new and diverse community members. Inspire and strengthen connection and engagement across our existing community members including all staff, families and students. Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred Experience teaching an AMI classroom preferred Step 9 or above on the Oregon Registry preferred Administrative certificate preferred Administrative leadership experience Managing personnel and organizational experience Ability to understand and delegate financial/budgetary responsibilities Public speaking and presentation skills Ability to pass all required background checks About Childpeace Childpeace’s classrooms offer a beautiful, vibrant environment in northwest Portland three blocks from the Willamette River near several urban parks, walking trails, and restaurants. The school is located near major bike and bus routes; many employees commute by bike, bus, or walk.
