ESS is looking for a Project Manager for our Alaska Railroad Contract!
A Project Manager manages all physical and financial aspects of the Alaska Railroad Food Service Project.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: Other duties may be assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
At any one time, manages 4-6 supervisors who supervise up to 20 employees providing food and facility service. Directly supervises 3-4 non-supervisory associates. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Human Resource Functions:
- Approves hiring of all personnel, to include assistant manager, food service managers, servers/bartenders, culinary staff, and stockers.
- Sets expectations of each team position, including uniforms, grooming standards, safety policies, and area responsibilities.
- Develops all service and culinary standards with assistance from Assistant Managers and Culinary Advisor/Executive Chef.
- Develops and assures scheduling is adhered to.
- Interfaces with ARR Guest Services Management Team.
- Ensures all HR paperwork is completed and filed with the HR department.
- Develops and implements training of Assistant Managers and onboard supervisors.
- Handles disciplinary measures as needed.
Financial Resource Functions:
- Manages all financial aspects of the project.
- Ensures that employee payroll information is entered correctly and on time.
- Has good working knowledge of finance and cash handling.
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and QuickBooks.
- Works with Sr. Accountant on daily, weekly, and monthly financial reporting.
- Develops invoicing and follow-up.
- Maintains daily safe petty cash account.
- Has good working knowledge of POS System and troubleshooting.
- Ensures project stays within established budgetary guidelines.
- Ensures daily cash, credit card, and other deposits are made.
- Ensures accuracy of monthly reporting to ARR Management Team.
- Develops annual budget for food service and janitorial projects.
- Ensures all corporate cash handling processes and procedures are adhered to.
- Ensures all records for fuel and maintenance are maintained and reviewed for accuracy on a minimum of a weekly basis.
Food and Beverage Functions:
- Works with Executive Chef on all menu development, recipes, and standards.
- Works with Executive Chef on all training aspects.
- Ensures that the majority of food purchases are through the primary vendor.
- Ensures costs are maintained within budgetary guidelines.
- Develops beverage menus, costing, and merchandising.
Safety Resource Functions:
- Ensures all ESS safety policies and standards are met.
- Works with ESS HSE Manager to ensure all necessary forms are filled out and filed.
- Ensures all ARR safety policies and procedures are met.
- Works with ESS HSE Manager on all accident reporting and follow-up.
- Maintains a zero recordable incident rate.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
- Tams, Tipps or Tap, ServSafe Food Protection Manager.
Education and/or Experience: Ten years of food service experience in a restaurant or banquet setting, with 5 years supervisory experience, or similar experience of an equal nature.
Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports/orders. Ability to speak effectively before customers.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract and calculate figures and amounts such as discounts.
Computer Skills: Ability to create new or work within an existing file in: Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
Other Qualifications: On occasion ride rail cars which necessitate 16 hours continuous work. During off-season periods may be required to oversee other ESS projects.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, heat, motion, and cleaning chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is moderately loud.
