Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and manage the work of the maintenance technicians including vehicle servicing and cleaning, vehicle repairs, component overhauls, and preventive maintenance inspections.
- Ensure a safe environment exists and all maintenance activities are in compliance with State, Federal, and Company requirements.
- Maintain daily bus availability, vehicles undergoing maintenance, and return to service activity and reporting.
- Identify opportunities and efficiencies for improving service delivery methods.
- Ensure achievement of all maintenance-related key performance indicators (KPIs), including type and timeliness of preventive maintenance inspections (PMIs), the distance between failures, time ‘out of service’, and missed service.
- Establish and adjust maintenance priorities in accordance with work demands, resources, and department goals.
- Initiate and implement projects that improve efficiency and/or reduce operating costs.
- Review financial and budget variances, review repair orders, and authorize account payable documents.
- Develop departmental policies and procedures.
- In relation to subordinates, is responsible for employment decisions, training and development; planning and directing the work; disciplining; handling employee complaints or grievances, and handling performance reviews.
Requirements:
- Experience in managing the maintenance functions of a 150+ vehicle maintenance shop.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

- Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and CHP Motor Vehicle Safety Standards including ADA requirements pertaining to passenger transportation.
- Ability to fulfill the physical demands of the job such as walking, stooping, sitting, bending, climbing a ladder, and occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.
- Work will at times require more than 8 hours per day or an irregular work week to perform the essential duties of the position.
- Duties will be performed primarily in a maintenance facility/office environment and will require travel to external locations and agencies.
