Job Summary: Work in the Flight Department in the coordination and duties as assigned by the Chief Pilot, the President and or the Executive Assistant, and to the demands associated with the mission at stake. Assist, with the Pilot in Command, in the coordination and duties as relevant to a successful mission (flight), and conduct flights in the capacity as assigned by the Chief Pilot. Work as a crew in conjunction with the Pilot-in-Command and assist in decision making to ensure a safe and successful mission. Prepare and ensure that aircraft ready for flight in all capacities, pre-flight, stocked, cleanliness, etc. Pilots are the company's most visible representative at the airport, associated establishments, and to the passengers and must act with tact and decorum while ensuring an efficient and safe operation.

Essential Functions, Roles and Responsibilities: Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:

  • Perform duties as assigned to a SIC.
  • Comply with all safety, health, environmental requirements, policies and procedures relevant to the position.
  • Ensure to be up to date with all developments in the business aviation community, regulations - FAA/FAR/AIM, and other Federal, state, local and foreign regulations affecting aviation operations, pilot qualifications and training, e.g. licenses, initial training and recurrent training, medicals, dates of training.
  • Comply as a crew member in the use of standard operating procedures (SOP).
  • Cognizant and application in Crew Resource Management (CRM).
  • Ensure proper recording of flights and necessary and essential information.
  • Special projects or assignments as directed by management.
  • Providing excellent customer service to passengers.
  • Performing duties as assigned during flight preparation and in flight.
  • Perform duties as Pilot in Command - as designated by Chief Pilot or aircraft designation assignment.
  • Being prepared to assume the duties of the Pilot in Command in the event the Pilot in Command is incapacitated.

Education, Training, Experience: Associate’s degree (AA) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or four (4) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Three (3) years as a professional pilot.

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations: The first officer/second in command should:

  • Jet time in a Pilot-in-Command or SIC capacity is preferred.
  • Hold a commercial certificate with appropriate category and class ratings.
  • Hold an instrument rating.
  • Have logged a minimum of 1,500 flight hours (some exceptions).
  • Hold a second-class medical certificate.
  • Meet all currency requirements regarding instrument flight time and night landings prior to flying any required trips.
  • Be able to pass an instrument competency check in the category of aircraft to be flown.

Job Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Intermediate computer skills, Advanced language skills, Intermediate mathematical skills, and Advanced reasoning ability, aviation knowledge - regulations and policies, etc.

Supervisory Responsibilities: No supervisory responsibilities.
