Electrical Engineer (FPGA) Role Description
Location: 4-5 days on-site: Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD
Salary: $130,000 - $250,000 (based on seniority), plus approximately $10,000 401k bonus
Experience Level: 3-10 years
Clearance Requirement: Active Secret Clearance
Position Overview:
We are seeking highly motivated FPGA Engineers to support cutting-edge research, development, and prototyping efforts at Aberdeen Proving Ground. This role involves designing, integrating, and fielding FPGA-based solutions for high-performance embedded systems in Cyber and Electronic Warfare applications. The ideal candidate will have experience in digital logic design, FPGA programming, system integration, and military technology development and must hold an active Secret clearance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and implement FPGA-based solutions for advanced Cyber/EW applications.
- Conduct research and development, prototyping, and system integration to support mission-critical defense projects.
- Develop and optimize digital logic designs using VHDL, Verilog, or SystemVerilog (C is a bonus).
- Work closely with hardware engineers, embedded software developers, and RF engineers to integrate FPGA designs into embedded systems.
- Perform simulation, synthesis, timing analysis, and verification of FPGA designs.
- Develop testbenches and validate designs using industry-standard simulation tools.
- Optimize FPGA resource utilization and power consumption for performance efficiency.
- Ensure seamless integration and fielding of FPGA-based military technology and systems.
- Knowledge of RF communications and signal processing is a plus.
Work Environment:
- Active Secret clearance required.
- Hybrid flexibility depending on client approval (Primary work location: Aberdeen Proving Ground).
- Work on mission-critical defense technology supporting Cyber/EW programs.
Qualifications:
- 3-10 years of experience in FPGA design and development.
- Have a thorough understanding and at least 1-3 years of demonstrated experience in:
- Engineering Research & Development (R&D), Prototyping, Integration, Testing, and Fielding of military technology and systems in Cyber/EW programs.
- Proficiency in VHDL, Verilog, or SystemVerilog.
- Experience with FPGA development tools (e.g., Xilinx Vivado, Intel Quartus, ModelSim).
- Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills for hardware integration.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-security environment.
- U.S. Citizenship required due to clearance requirements.
