We are looking to cover:

We expect the successful candidate to be committed to providing the highest standard of care to our patients and clinical support, advice and guidance to other Practice staff as appropriate.

Main duties of the job:

To work as an autonomous practitioner, responsible for the provision of medical services to the practice population, delivering an excellent standard of clinical care whilst complying with the GMS contract.

Furthermore, the post holder will adhere to the GMC standards for Good Medical Practice, contributing to the effective management of the practice, leading by example, and maintaining a positive, collaborative working relationship with the multidisciplinary team.

About us:

Boultham Park Medical Practice is located just to the south of the centre of Lincoln, next to Boultham Park, and has good access including bus routes and free car parking, for both staff and patients.

We are part of the Apex Primary Care Network (PCN) and work closely with our colleagues in the member Practices. In addition to our 4 Partners (3 GPs and a Clinical Pharmacist), we have a clinical team of 3 Salaried GPs, 2 Nurse Practitioners and our Practice Nursing team.

We also have PCN ARRS staff support consisting of an Acute Illness Hub, Care Home / Frailty team, Senior Mental Health Nurse, First Contact Practitioners (MSK), Clinical Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technician support.

Job responsibilities:

  • The delivery of highly effective medical care to the entitled population
  • The provision of services commensurate with the GMS contract
  • Generic prescribing adhering to local and national guidance
  • Effective management of long-term conditions in keeping with local and national guidance
  • Processing of administration in a timely manner, including referrals, repeat prescription requests and other associated administrative tasks
  • On a rotational basis, undertake telephone triage and duty doctor roles. The practice is planning to introduce a total triage system along with Safe Working limits. Duty doctor sessions are currently allocated in proportion to sessions worked with some variation to account for leave and sickness absence
  • Maintain accurate clinical records in conjunction with good practice, policy, and guidance
  • Work collaboratively, accepting an equal share of the practice workload
  • Adhere to best practice recommended through clinical guidelines and the audit process
  • Contribute to the successful implementation of continuous improvement and quality initiatives within the practice
  • Accept delegated responsibility for a specific area (or areas) of the QOF
  • Attend and contribute effectively to practice meetings as required
  • Contribute effectively to the development and maintenance of the practice including clinical governance and training
  • Ensure compliance with the appraisal process
  • Prepare and complete the revalidation process
  • Commit to self-learning and instil an ethos of continuing professional development across the practice team
  • Support the training of medical students from all clinical disciplines
  • Support the partners in achieving the strategic aims of the practice, making recommendations to enhance income and reduce expenditure
  • Review and always adhere to practice protocols and policies
  • Encourage collaborative working, liaising with all staff regularly, always promoting a culture of continuous improvement

Person Specification:

Qualifications:

  • Full registration with GMC
  • Registered on Performers List as a General Practitioner
  • QOF and Audit

Experience:

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Good organisational skills
  • Effective time management
  • Teamwork
