Position Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and collaborative Design Liaison Engineer to join our team. The Design Liaison Engineer will serve as the bridge between the design and manufacturing teams, ensuring that design concepts are accurately implemented on the shop floor. This role involves coordinating with both the engineering design team and production staff to ensure that products meet technical specifications and manufacturing capabilities, and quality standards. The Design Liaison Engineer will also troubleshoot and resolve design and manufacturing issues, ensuring smooth execution from prototype through production.
Position Responsibilities
Design Collaboration: Work closely with design engineers to ensure that designs are aligned with shop capabilities, recommending modifications or optimizations where necessary.
Communication: Act as the primary liaison between the design team and the production floor, ensuring that both teams understand the technical requirements and constraints of the design and manufacturing processes.
Troubleshooting and Problem-Solving: Resolve design-related issues during the manufacturing process by collaborating with both engineering and shop floor teams to provide quick and effective solutions.
Manufacturing Support: Provide technical support to the shop floor and production teams, ensuring that designs are executed according to specifications, quality standards, and schedules.
Process Optimization: Identify opportunities for process improvements, providing feedback to the design and production teams for design modifications that can enhance manufacturing efficiency or product quality.
Technical Documentation: Review and assist with creating detailed technical documents, including assembly/disassembly instructions, design modifications, and work orders to support manufacturing and assembly processes.
Quality Control: Ensure that the final product aligns with the design specifications and meets all quality and regulatory standards. Support quality assurance during inspections and testing phases.
Training and Support: Provide training to the production team on new design features, manufacturing techniques, and product updates.
Cost Control: Help ensure that design decisions are cost-effective, considering materials, manufacturing methods, and labor efficiency.
