OUTCOMES

The janitor will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness of the Corps & Community Center property. This position will be the primary staff engaged in maintaining property of The Salvation Army Corps and coordinating with the Corps Officer(s) for property upkeep. It is expected that the janitor offers feedback so that the Corps Officer(s) remains aware of property upkeep needs. This position will work with the Corps team members where possible.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Property Upkeep Manage the daily Corps & Community Center property upkeep needs, and cleanliness for both interior and exterior of the Corps. Clean before and after Corps & Community Center events. Coordinate property needs with Corps Officer(s). Assist social services staff & volunteers with food pantry for clients which includes packing boxes and delivery to vehicles. Responsible to accomplish training until completed (Safe-From-Harm, First Aid, CPR, and other required trainings). Work with the Corps Officer(s) for building rentals or activities which require participation with programs on site. Will be responsible for assisting with fund-raising efforts as requested by Corps Officer(s) & offer support as necessary to maintain ongoing operations. Listen to the needs of those using the facility and develop/expand relationships with patrons. This position will require assisting with donation pickups for The Salvation Army Corps. Work to schedule and coordinate with Corps Officer(s) the community service custodial staff pertaining to cleanup, setup, equipment needs, etc. Volunteer Oversight

Coordinate volunteer schedules as needed for services offered through the community center. Supervise all volunteers in conjunction with the Corps Officer(s). Responsible for training, equipping, and monitoring compliance for volunteers to competently fulfill their roles. Maintenance and Safety

Will maintain a safe and secure community center environment at all times, including strict adherence to Safe-From-Harm policies. Follow appropriate and specific security protocols for preservation and security for all property of The Salvation Army Corps or any property at the Corps & Community Center. Other Duties

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

This position reports to the Corps Officer(s).

This position supervises volunteers.

In contacts related to this position's duties, this individual acts as a representative of The Salvation Army and its mission.

PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS

This individual will be evaluated on how effectively the outcomes of this position are achieved as well as the timeliness, accuracy, and completeness of accomplishing assigned goals and how well all policies of The Salvation Army are followed.

A 30, 60, and 90-day performance review will be conducted.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred. COMPETENCIES

This individual will only commit Salvation Army resources, including facilities that have been allocated or approved. This individual will keep the Corps Officer(s) informed on all critical issues relating to their area of responsibility. This individual will adhere to all policies and procedures in carrying out the responsibilities of this position. PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position is required to do light to heavy physical work and must be able to lift 50 pounds regularly. In order to successfully perform the essential functions of this position, the employee is regularly required to remain stationary for some periods of time; use hands and fingers; communicate; move; occasionally required to position self to stoop, kneel or crouch; frequently required to reach with and use arms and hands, as required in using standard maintenance equipment. The work environment for this position includes an office, community center, and outdoor environment with a low to high noise level. Maintain positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters and maintains positive relationships with co-workers and supervisors. This would include but not be limited to such actions: resolution of conflicts in a positive manner; courteous treatment of staff, clients, and visitors; respect of others' property and person, professional and appropriate communication to and about co-workers, supervisors, and subordinates.
