Unpaid Volunteer Opportunity:
At Whitman-Walker, we value the dedication and passion of our volunteers. We offer a variety of unpaid volunteer opportunities. While we do not provide financial compensation, we have many opportunities for volunteers to participate in the journey of Whitman-Walker.
Key Objectives of Volunteering: Acts of Service:
Provide compassionate and knowledgeable support to all human beings that include the LGBTQIA+ and HIV communities through various programs, including health outreach, social support groups, administrative assistance, and event support, etc. Community Engagement and Building:
Foster a welcoming and inclusive environment for our clients and staff, promote LGBTQIA+ health awareness conduct research support. Leveraging and offer Expertise:
Provide service and support, when able to various areas of Whitman-Walker, i.e. Clinic activities, Board Participation, Professional Development and Support, Policy, and Activism.
Request to be a Volunteer:
Please complete the application, attach your resume and submit a detailed letter of interest with your desired to be a volunteer status, time available or activity interested in and which area of focus as mentioned above. Your volunteer request will be reviewed, and a member of the Whitman-Walker Team will contact you.
Organization and Corporate Request:
Are you looking to organize a "day of service" activity for your workplace, organization or group of friends? We are happy to work with you to coordinate a volunteer event to meet your needs. Please contact Dave Mallory at dmallory@whitman-walker.org for more information.
Whitman-Walker collects applications, to conduct a basic office of inspector general (OIG) check and if a provider, to ensure that license and credentials are not suspended for any volunteer activity that providing service to patients within the Whitman-Walker Clinic or within research under the Whitman-Walker Health System. We will review your application and get in touch to discuss potential volunteer opportunities that align with your aspirations, and our needs.
