Job Description
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Implements and participates in World Class Lean TPM, Quality processes and other such advanced manufacturing methodologies and systems.
- Ensures production equipment is capable and has capacity for growth; involves integrating equipment, people, material flow, and information systems.
- Develop and maintain in-process quality control systems to ensure product quality.
- Drive continuous improvement through waste reduction, production efficiencies, and operation improvement.
- Prepare procedures and plans.
- Work closely with manufacturing, and support machinists as required.
- Ensure new parts and optimization projects are completed by the required deadline, at reasonable cost, and with a robust process.
- Integrate work with Production, Quality, Purchasing, and Scheduling Departments to ensure a smooth flow of quality products through the factory.
- Take complex precision formed sheet metal parts from start to finish in the manufacturing process including:
- Understanding all customer specifications and requirements
- Design of forming tooling, as well as secondary trimming and drilling fixtures required.
- Coordinates with Quality to coordinate and/or design of inspection check fixtures
- Selects outside tooling sources, and requisitions and solicits competitive quotes
- Oversee creation and optimization of CNC Programs
- Creates documentation to allow machine operators to set up and maintain production of high quality parts.
- Shepherd parts through the first run.
- Optimize the manufacturing process.
- Keep up to date on latest sheet metal forming and secondary operations to continually optimize and drive cost out of our products.
- Participate in planning of factory floor layouts to optimize material flow, create manufacturing cells, and reduce cost of manufacturing
- Assist in and/or initiates capital expenditure requests and justifications
- Review and enforce procedures from AS9100 certified quality control system.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Requires a bachelor’s degree in mechanical, manufacturing, industrial or similar engineering field
- Requires 3 years’ experience in an Aerospace sheet metal forming/assembly environment
- Demonstrates proficiency with CAD (solid modeling) and CAM software
- Previous experience with SolidWorks, CATIA, Mastercam and/or Vericut a plus
- Demonstrates proficiency and comprehends OEM specifications.
- Demonstrates a professional and positive attitude as well as a passion for continuous improvement
- Demonstrates strong time management skills with the ability to effectively coordinate multiple projects
- CMM experience a plus
