Job Overview:
The Office of Public Instruction, Centralized Services Division, administers the largest general fund and second largest total funds biennial budget of any State agency – over $2 billion. This Division provides centralized accounting, payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable, cash management, budgeting, financial reporting, purchasing, mail, receptionist, and word processing services. The division is also responsible for the distribution and fiscal monitoring of State and Federal grants paid by OPI to local education agencies (LEAs). The Accountant 1 is responsible for accounting and administrative processes including GL, AP, and AR, pro card transactions, accounting discrepancies, reconciling statements and accounting functions related to payroll.
Major Duties or Responsibilities:
Accounts Payable and Receivable * · Enter incoming invoices and contract requests into the content management system for payment processing and records retention. __
· Prepare allocation sheets for fixed costs.
* · Reconcile and verify travel and Procard expenses and gather appropriate documentation.* * · Contact office employees for missing documentation of travel and Procard expenses. __
· Respond to questions and provide information regarding payments. · Process payments and deposits in the state accounting system. __
· Review the validity and accuracy of incoming checks and forward for further processing and deposit. __
· Reconcile accounting transactions and prepare payments and deposits for approval. __
· Perform accounting functions related to payroll processing. __
· Identify, research, and resolve accounting discrepancies. __

Minimum Qualifications (Education and Experience
):
· Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field. · Two years’ experience with accounting processes and standards. · Other combinations of education and experience may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
