Job Description
The Contracts Administrator manages high-value, specialty construction materials, equipment, and services by evaluating and subcontracting them independently. This role requires making informed decisions to optimize cost, efficiency, and profitability, with direct impact on project success. The administrator works closely with engineering and construction teams, prepares quotes, handles subcontractor communications, analyzes quotations, negotiates contracts, and ensures compliance with project specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with teams to define material requirements.
- Prepare and submit requests for quotations.
- Manage subcontractor RFIs, cost/schedule impact sheets, and recommend improvements.
- Analyze bids, negotiate terms, and select suppliers.
- Ensure accurate documentation, including bid forms, contracts, and cost estimates.
- Maintain and update subcontractor databases.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- May supervise or advise less experienced subcontracting staff and help improve subcontractor performance.
Communication Skills:
- Strong ability to read and interpret technical documents, write reports, and deliver presentations. Success in the role relies heavily on effective interpersonal communication and relationship-building.
Qualifications & Education:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in procurement, subcontracting, or construction. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required.
- A 4-year degree in Business Administration or related field, or 6 years of relevant experience in construction procurement/subcontracting.
