Job Type Full-timeDescriptionPOSITION SUMMARYPsychiatrist is an educational, medical and administrative position with responsibility for provision and quality of patient care, and teaching and supervision of physicians participating in the residency programs with The Wright Center for Graduate Medical Education.RequirementsDUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSBe a resource for the primary care physicians and the integration of behavioral health into primary careSupervise the psychiatric nurse practitionersAttend administrative and clinic meetings and provide in-service education as appropriate, such as Behavioral Health Level 10 and the Clinical Advisory Board Meetings, and others as assignedAssist in the job shadow portion of the interview process or orientation of new staff when requestedProvide full range of psychiatric services to assigned patients. Services provided include direct care of patients in the clinical setting including: assessment, screening, diagnosis, and treatment of patients and determining the degree of disabilities in patients. Prescribe medication to patients as deemed necessary and will conduct medication management. Document all services in the patient's electronic medical record.Analyze and evaluate patient data and test findings to diagnose nature and extent of mental disorder.Prescribe, direct, and administer psychotherapeutic treatments or medications to treat mental, emotional, or behavioral disorders.Collaborate with physicians, social workers, psychiatric nurses, or other professionals to discuss treatment plans and progress.Gather and maintain patient information and records, including social and medical history obtained from patients, relatives, and other professionals.Examine or conduct laboratory or diagnostic tests on patient to provide information on general physical condition and mental disorder.Participate in treatment team activities to include the development and periodic review of patient treatment plans and will take necessary steps when a patient refuses treatment.Provide forty (40) hours of service per week, including thirty-two (32) hours of direct patient care per week (64 slots per week) and eight (8) total hours of administrative time. Must be present (40) forty hours per week, which includes administrative time.Ensure that Behavioral Health on-call rotation is developed and maintained.Participate in behavioral health on-call rotation, which may include after hours, holidays and weekends.Develop evidence-based clinical standard operating procedures.Uphold federal and state mental health regulations.Ensure all peer review audits are completed in a timely fashion as requested.Review all contracted provider invoices for accuracy and approvalAll other duties as assigned.EDUCATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES Precept residents in outpatient and as necessary the inpatient settingLead 8-10 resident didactic conferences per academic year; if leading noon conference this counts as two conferences; Conference requirement may change based schedule. Direct involvement in completion of resident evaluations and ensure evaluations are completed in a timely manner; inclusive of direct observation requirements.Participate in scholarly activities as it relates to care delivery and performance and programmatic improvementParticipate in annual program evaluationParticipate in curriculum development as requestedAssist in monitoring resident stress, with the goal of identifying mental or emotional conditions that inhibit performance and/or learning and advise the Associate Program Director and/or Program Director.Actively participate in recruitment process, review candidates, interviews and selection of residents. When asked, attend recruitment fairs to recruit locally, regionally and nationallyParticipate in orientation and graduation ceremonyActively participate in preparation and maintenance of ACGME accreditationModel and promote physician professionalismTimely complete patient care documentation and required resident evaluations and direct observation assessments as assignedActively mentor a number of trainees and oversee learner driven portfolioParticipate in Academic societies in order to enhance your educational skills.Complete annual ACGME faculty survey.Achieve and maintain Board certification, CMES, ACLS/BLS certification Demonstrate compliance and highest integrity with industry recognized billing practicesPromote/demonstrate scholarly work; which includes uploading scholarly work in My Evaluations software.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSMD/DO DegreeGraduate Medical Education in an ACGME Accredited Psychiatric Residency ProgramCurrent certification by the Board of Psychiatry or possess qualifications acceptable to the Review CommitteeDEA CertificationBLS CertificationValid physician license for State of PennsylvaniaPrevious leadership / administrative experience requiredBe willing to combine administrative/teaching and patient care responsibilitiesPossess strong administrative and team building skillsExcellent interpersonal and communication skillsPrevious participation as an active faculty member in an ACGME-accredited psychiatry residency program or graduate medical education administrative experience is highly desiredRecent scholarly activity such as peer reviewed funding, publication of original research or review articles in peer-reviewed journals, chapters in textbooks, publication or presentation of case reports or clinical series at scientific society meetings, or participation in national committees or educations organizations highly desiredValid driver's license
