Summary: Provides Physical Therapy services to patients of all ages including adolescents, adults and
geriatric patients who are referred; Evaluates the Physical Therapy needs of the patient; Develops goals and treatment plan in conjunction with the patient and family/significant other; Implements treatment program; Provides education to patients, families and caregivers; Supervises Physical Therapy Assistants, students and support staff in compliance with hospital and state regulatory policies. Must meet departmental per diem requirements as set forth by management.
Education: Bachelor of Science, Master's or Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy from a Physical Therapy program accredited by the American Physical Therapy Association.
Licensure: License and/or eligible for licensure as a Physical Therapist from the Department of Health, Division of Professional Regulation, State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations. Access to reliable transportation in order to service off site locations. BLS Required.
Experience: One year experience preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
Physical Therapy theory, patient assessment and treatment techniques; task analysis; ability to develop a therapeutic relationship with a variety of patients
Skills in organization, time management and priority setting.
Ability to work cooperatively and communicate effectively with peers and other disciplines.
Ability to utilize sound interpersonal skills when interacting with patients and demonstrating sensitivity to age, spiritual and cultural diversity of customers.
Ability to instruct patients and their families
Working Conditions, Physical Environment and/or Safety Requirements : This position may require duties including lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs., pushing and pulling up to 100 lbs., and requires frequent standing, walking, balancing, stooping, bending, kneeling, and reaching. Good visual and auditory acuity as well as good manual dexterity required.
