Midwife:

Position Summary: The certified nurse midwife (CNM) is an advanced practice nurse who is responsible for the assessment, plan, implementation and evaluation of nurse midwifery care delivered to antepartum, intrapartum postpartum, and newborn patients. The CNM performs patient care in both the outpatient and inpatient setting. The certified nurse midwife provides a full range of women’s health services from adolescence, adult to beyond menopause. These services include well-women care, gynecologic and family planning services, preconception care, prenatal, childbirth, and postpartum. Midwifery care includes health promotion, disease prevention, and individualized wellness education and counseling. These services are provided in collaboration with obstetricians in an integrated setting. Position will work weekends on a rotating basis and include call responsibilities.

Central Maine Health Care is seeking a Midwife to join our group. Collaboratively, the physician’s and midwives’ of CMMC OB/GYN serve the greater Lewiston/Auburn community to deliver OB care to a growing and diverse community and we are the only women’s health practice in this community.

Our labor and delivery unit deliveries babies from 34 weeks gestation and deliveries 900+ babies per year. We offer 24 hour/day in- house pediatrics and anesthesia services. We work closely with our maternal fetal medicine colleagues at Maine Medical Center when a higher level of care is necessary for maternal and neonatal wellbeing.

We have a very busy and growing surgical practice which includes the gamut of benign gynecological surgeries and robotics are available. In addition, we have a GYN oncologist consultant available for surgical cases when indicated.
