Schedule:Monday: 7:30am - 4:30pm (clinic)Tuesday: 7:00am - 5:00pm (L&D call shift)Wednesday: 7:30am - 4:30pm (clinic)Thursday: 7:30am - 3:30pm (clinic)Friday: 7:30 - 3:30pm (clinic)On call schedule: One to two Saturdays per month: 7:00am - 7:00pmAbout the facility:
Practice has 3 midwives and 2 WHNPs20-30 deliveries a monthPatients are shared between midwives and physicians in the clinicPrimary duties include first trimester ultrasounds, group prenatal care, cesarean first assist, Nexplanon insertion training.CNMs train residents and PA studentsAbout the opportunity:
Consults with the on-call physician and co-manages high risk patients as appropriate.Manage antepartum, intrapartum and postpartum care of low-risk obstetrical patients.Performs first assist duties during cesarean deliveries.Performs rounds on all assigned inpatients at least once daily.Institutes lifesaving emergency measures pending obstetricians and pediatricians arrival.Documents patient care in accordance with established unit/MTF procedures.Documents all admissions and discharge summaries in accordance with established MTF procedures.Renders comprehensive care to women from menarche through menopause; plans and manages prenatal, postpartum, well woman gynecological, family planning and pre conceptual care.Performs first trimester ultrasound evaluations for pregnancy dating and limited third trimester ultrasound for amniotic fluid assessment, fetal presentation, cardiac activity verification and placental location.Requests diagnostic tests as clinically indicated; analyzes and interprets laboratory and radiological reports.Prescribes medications, as required, in accordance with privileges and MTF rules and regulations.Consults with OB/GYN physicians and other specialists as appropriate for complex cases.Refers to specialty care as appropriate.Documents pertinent patient information, assessment, and plan in the chart electronically as required by established procedures, Federal Law, or Air Force Instructions.Facilitates postpartum patients optimum physical and psychological transition to parenthood.Counsels parents on normal growth and development of infant.Provides guidance and encourages acceptable health practices.Manages gynecological conditions and performs annual health screening examinations. Orders and evaluates tests to detect disease processes.Provides family planning counseling and various methods of birth control.Reviews and documents telephone consults regularly in accordance with established unit procedures.Attends and participates in high-risk obstetric and quality meetings.Collaborates with health care team members to improve patient care delivery.Performs all care IAW individual privileges that are awarded by the Medical Treatment Facility credentials committee.Participates in peer review activities.Requirements:
Master's degree in nursing.Education: Graduate from a certified nurse midwife education program accredited by the American College of Nurse Midwives.Any active state RN and Nurse Midwife licensesCertified by the American Midwifery Certification Board.Current Basic Life Support (BLS and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certificationsFetal Heart Monitoring, Intermediate or Higher ( from AWHONN)Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics (from AAFP) OR Emergencies in Clinical Obstetrics (from ACOG)Must have at least 24 months experience working/performing as Certified Nurse Midwife within the last 48 months
