Description

Provides psychiatric services to children and adolescents served by the Youth and Family Centers, including leading child and family centered multidisciplinary teams at assigned centers. All services are provided with the goal of improved academic performance.Recommend, prescribe and provide psychiatric management including psychotherapy and psychosocial treatment, family therapy, group therapy and psychopharmacological and biological assessment and treatment.Provide consultation, review and guidance to other primary care and mental health care in the evaluation and treatment of children.Administer the psychiatric operations of the Mental Health Services Center within district, state, federal, and managed care guidelines. Maintains liaison with behavioral health care organization, as needed.Provide psychiatric consultation and/or treatment to families of students served in the program.Lead multidisciplinary mental health team that provides mental health services to children and adolescents.Provide training and consultation to school campus principals engaged in collaborative education and health services to treated children and adolescents.Consult with other medical and mental health professionals in the community when appropriate.Provide training and supervision to psychiatric residents and also to other students and interns when appropriate.Participate in quality improvement programs.Keep abreast of professional trends and developments affecting assigned programs, and disseminates information to appropriate personnel.Qualifications

Medical degree from an accredited university is requiredLicensed to practice medicine in the State of TexasCompletion of ABMS-approved residencies or fellowships in General Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent PsychiatryBoard Certification by ABPN in General Psychiatry2+ years of experience working with children, adolescents, and families in a school-based mental health setting is preferredDemonstrated knowledge of principles and practices of psychiatry inducing diagnosis and treatment approaches.Demonstrated knowledge of school-based mental health care.Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations.
