We are seeking an Advanced Practice Provider for the
Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology

Division of Maternal Fetal Medicine
primarily at
Duke Perinatal Consultants of Cary and Raleigh
as well as
Duke Perinatal Consultants of Durham
locations. The APP will work in collaboration with the attending physicians providing direct patient care, performing consultations, collecting and documenting data, assisting in diagnostic and therapeutic procedures and ordering and scheduling laboratory studies.
Primary hours will be Monday through Friday with hours flexible to meet the needs of the patients. There is a possibility of weekend hours in the future. There is a possibility of deployment to General OB-GYN sites to provide the best patient access.
Preference for 2+ years Women's Health APP experience specifically High-Risk Obstetrics.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Collect patient histories, conduct physical examinations, and record data in patient's record; write progress notes; prepare patient workups and summaries noting pertinent positive and negative findings; obtain psychosocial history relevant to patient care, and assume responsibility for developing therapeutic relationships with patients. Order, schedule land review laboratory studies and diagnostic procedures; explain necessity, preparation, nature and anticipated effects of scheduled diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to the patient.
OBSTETRICAL CARE
The Maternal-Fetal Medicine APP will provide obstetric care to prenatal patients from the new obstetric visit throughout pregnancy and including the postpartum visit as follows: Perform the new obstetric exam with identification of problems complicating pregnancy or pre-existent to pregnancy. Perform FHR assessment, NST interpretation, pelvic exams for antepartum and labor assessment Initiate plan of care/diagnostic testing/interpretation of labs/treatment plan based on the individual patient medical/surgical history prescribing necessary treatment and services for quality patient care; report progress to collaborating physician and maintain record of each patient's progress. Provide patient education relating to pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum care Performance of FHR assessment, NST interpretation, pelvic exams for antepartum and labor assessment Collaborate with other NP/PAs to ensure clinic and telephone triage coverage
GYNECOLOGICAL CARE
Gynecological care including but not limited to: Methods of family planning and counseling for reproductive life planning IUD/Nexplanon placement/removal Screening and treatment for sexually transmitted infections
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS PA: Must be licensed by the North Carolina Medical Board, and be Board Certified as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). BLS required. NP: Must have current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina and Approval to Practice by the Board of Nursing. Must be Board Certified from a national certifying board in the appropriate patient foci. BLS required. Both: Master's Degree or higher required. Must demonstrate and maintain credentialing and licensing requirements of the Private Diagnostic Clinic and Duke Health. The position requires the candidate to have current DEA licensure.
