JOB TITLE: Human Resource Coordinator REPORTS TO: Executive Director. Wage Rate:$17 - $22 per hour Part time 25-29 hours/week or Full time 30-34 hours per week. SUMMARY: The Human Resource Generalist will oversee the recruiting, interviewing, and hiring of new staff; plan, direct, or coordinate human resources activities and staff of the Comstock Community Center/Community Learning Center; and serve as a link between an organizations management and its employees. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Implements human resources programs by providing human resources services, including talent acquisition, staffing, employment processing, compensation, health and welfare benefits, training and development, records management, safety and health, succession planning, employee relations and retention; completing personnel transactions. Interview job applicants; review applications/resumes; evaluate applicant skills and make recommendations regarding applicants qualifications. Serve as a link between management and employees by handling questions and helping resolve work-related problems. Assist in analyzing and modifying compensation and benefits policies to establish competitive programs and ensure compliance with legal requirements. Advise managers on organizational policy matters such as performance management and disciplinary procedures, and recommend needed changes. Plan and conduct new employee orientation to foster positive attitude toward organizational objectives. Identify staff vacancies and recruit, interview and select applicants. Provide advice, assistance, and follow-up on company policies, procedures, and documentation. Administer benefits and performance management systems Maintain employee personnel policies Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential. Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions. Maintain employee files and records, assures completeness of files. Responds to public inquiries on positions available in employment. Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations. SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training, compensation and benefits Must be a personable person, and be able to comfortably and pleasantly deal with a variety of people. Must have strong customer service skills. Strong problem solving capabilities are necessary to accomplish the duties and tasks of the position. Have the ability to correctly make decisions involving client issues/ problems, including when to escalate the problem to senior leadership staff. Must have exceptional written and oral communication skills, as well as excellent organizational and planning skills. Have the ability to effectively learn and acquire new knowledge and skills. Ability to share knowledge and work in a strong team oriented environment. Must be detail oriented Proficient in Word and Excel REQUIRED: Bachelors degree with emphasis in Human Resources or related discipline is preferred Direct work experience in HR discipline, minimum 2 year Basic knowledge of Human Resource laws and regulations Ability to work independently and efficiently PREFERRED: Non-profit Human Resources experience
