DATA WAREHOUSE ENGINEER

The Enterprise Data Engineering team is responsible for designing and developing the enterprise database architecture, data warehouse, reports, machine learning, and predictive analytics at SpaceX. We are part of a larger group called EIS (Enterprise Information Systems) that writes the software that builds rockets and powers SpaceX. We are responsible for all of the software on the factory floor, the warehouses, the financial systems, the restaurant, and even the public home page. Elon called us the "nervous system" of SpaceX because we connect all of the other teams at SpaceX to ensure that the entire rocket building process runs smoothly.

The Data Warehouse team develops the central repository of historical data from various systems for analytical reporting. A successful candidate should be able to design and develop data warehouse models that will drive decision making in a manufacturing environment. RESPONSIBILITIES:

Design, develop, and support an enterprise-level data warehouse that encompasses data from different systems

Gather business requirements from users

Create documentation for the data warehouse and market to the user community for adoption

Verify accuracy and consistency of data

Measure usage of the data warehouse

Ensure the data warehouse model works well with Analysis Services cubes

Develop ETL processes to support systems integration

End-user acceptance testing and roll-out

Identification of technology utilization opportunities

Set coding standards for the data warehouse

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in computer science or engineering

5+ years of experience developing data warehouses

3+ years of experience in MS SQL Server 2012 and above

3+ years of experience with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

SQL partitioning experience

Columnstore indexes experience

Masters in computer science or engineering

Debug complex stored procedures and optimize bottle necks in the ETL process

Test development experience

C# development experience

ERP and Manufacturing experience

Knowledge of version control systems (e.g. Git)

PowerShell experience

Strong analytical and conceptual skills with the ability to create original and creative solutions

Strong desire to thoroughly learn the business and be able to communicate in the same terminology as the users

Perform end-user training and ensure adoption of the data warehouse to the enterprise

Ability to cope with significant complexity while creating or modifying solutions

Ability to work closely with users, and be proficient with requirements gathering techniques

Manage user expectations and estimate project milestone timelines

Proven analytical skills to properly evaluate and interpret cross-functional business requirements

Strong presentation, verbal, and written communications skills

Project management experience
