Orbis Operations is seeking Software Engineers to support its government customer in Fort Meade, MD.

Required Clearance:

Active Security Clearance required at the Top Secret (TS)/Special Compartmented Information (SCI) level and appropriate level Polygraph

Role Description (role will vary upon level):

Develop new and maintain existing software and unit tests for operational systems using Java 8, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Google Web Toolkit (GWT) with an Oracle database for an Enterprise Java Beans (EJB) J2EE architecture. Maintain software and configuration in corporate repository. Additional skills needed include: Linux, puppet, SpringBoot, Vue.js, Tanzu, git, & Maven. Familiarity with Agile methodologies, Jira and Confluence.

Responsibilities (responsibilities will vary upon level):

Analyze user requirements to derive software design and performance requirementsDesign and code new software or modify existing software to add new featuresDebug existing software and correct defectsIntegrate existing software into new or modified systems or operating environmentsDevelop simple data queries for existing or proposed databases or data repositoriesProvide recommendations for improving documentation and software development process standardsDevelop or implement algorithms to meet or exceed system performance and functional standardsAssist with developing and executing test procedures for software componentsWrite or review software and system documentationDevelop software solutions by analyzing system performance standards, confer with users or system engineers; analyze systems flow, data usage and work processes; and investigate problem areasServe as team lead at the level appropriate to the software development process being used on any particular projectModify existing software to correct errors, to adapt to new hardware, or to improve its performanceDesign, develop and modify software systems, using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcome and consequences of designDesign or implement complex database or data repository interfaces/queriesOversee one or more software development teams and ensure the work is completed in accordance with the constraints of the software development process being used on any particular projectDesign or implement complex algorithms requiring adherence to strict timing, system resource, or interface constraints; Perform quality control on team productsConfer with system engineers and hardware engineers to derive software requirements and to obtain information on project limitations and capabilities, performance requirements and interfacesCoordinate software system installation and monitor equipment functioning to ensure operational specifications are metImplement recommendations for improving documentation and software development process standardsServe as the technical lead of multiple software development teamsSelect the software development process in coordination with the customer and system engineeringRecommend new technologies and processes for complex software projectsEnsure quality control of all developed and modified softwareDelegate programming and testing responsibilities to one or more teams and monitor their performanceQualifications:

Current TS/SCI with polygraph requiredBachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline0-20+ years of SWE experience (level will depend on education & years of experience)Cloud Experience: 0-5 years demonstrated work experience with distributed scalable Big Data Store (NoSQL) such as Hbase, CloudBase/Acumulo, Big Table, etc.Demonstrated work experience with the Map Reduce programming model and technologies such as Hadoop, Hive, Pig, etc.Demonstrated work experience with the Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS)Demonstrated work experience with Serialization such as JSON and/or BSON.
