SUMMARY

The City of Henderson is seeking a qualified and motivated candidate to temporarily augment our network engineering staff. The candidate must possess a minimum of 5 years of direct experience in the networking field and exhibit substantial competence in LAN, WAN, Wireless, Structured cabling, switching, and routing technologies. The candidate must pass an exam to qualify for an interview. We appreciate you taking the time to read through this document and provide us with thoughtfully selected, well qualified candidates.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Under general supervision, installs, configures, operates, and maintains network environments (Wide Area Network (WAN), Local Area Network (LAN), and Wireless Network (WN)), software and related infrastructure; and performs related duties as assigned. Installs, configures, maintains and operates network environments (WAN, LAN, WN) and associated equipment (switches, routers, firewalls, controllers, access points, load balancers) to meet application and core service requirements; manages and monitors network environments; troubleshoots/resolves identified and reported problems; works with vendors to resolve problems; performs script writing, updating and coding of automation tools and services; performs asset life cycle management for network equipment and software; creates, maintains and adheres to policies, procedures, standards and operational instructions for network environments.Maintains and operates a data center; implements and manages cabinet, cabling and power configurations.Serves as technical lead on projects; interacts with project teams, vendors and other agencies to gather requirements, researches and recommends network environment solutions, provides technical guidance for solutions, coordinates equipment deployment and participates in systems installation, configuration and testing.Implements, maintains and operates connectivity for 'internet' and 'cloud solutions'.Implements, maintains and operates data protection and system disaster recovery solutions; ensures data and systems are backed up, replicated and recoverable as required; ensures network environments are secure by preforming security monitoring, vulnerability scanning and remediation, updates/upgrades network environments to keep current with security and version releases; participates in incident response; implements security solutions and proposes technology to increase security posture.Assists in planning and preparing for future technology solutions; stays up to date with emerging technologies and trends; meets with vendors to understand product roadmaps; research, evaluates and tests emerging technologies; and makes recommendations.Installs, configures, maintains and operates hardware and software solutions to manage, monitor and operate network environments, as well to deliver core services.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in information technology, computer science, or a closely related field.Five (5) years of experience in network engineering which involved the maintenance of WANs, LANs, WNs, software and related infrastructure.Note: An equivalent combination of related training and experience may be consideredMust pass a nationwide fingerprint-based record check, and a wants/warrants check.Must complete Security Awareness and National Crime Information Center (NCIC)/Nevada Criminal Justice Information System (NCJIS) certification within six months of hire/transfer and be recertified every two years. Must maintain certifications in NCIC/NCJIS as a condition of continued employment.Must obtain and maintain one certification within one core service area as aligned with job duties and identified by the department within one (1) year from the date of appointment as a condition of continued employment:

The selection process will include:

Vendor pre-screening based on required and desired knowledge, skills and abilities.COH review and selection of proposed candidates to move forward in theselection process.

COH practical exam.COH selection interview.

Based on the requirements defined in this Task Order, the vendor will pre-screen allcandidates to ensure they meet minimum qualifications in the position description andhave the required and desired experience. The City will review all proposed candidateapplications and will inform the vendor of the candidates that are invited to move forwardin the selection process.

Please note the following:

The proposed candidates selected to move forward in the process will be requiredto take a practical exam.

The City of Henderson Department of Information will schedule a time for thepractical exam with each candidate. The practical exam will be proctored via MicrosoftTeams by City of Henderson network personnel (time to be determined). The resultsof the candidate's practical exam may result in an interview.

The selection interview affords the City team to assess the proposed candidate for 'fit'within the team (technical skills should already be confirmed through pre-screeningand the test).

The City does hire people who are in the United States on a work visa, but will not'sponsor' anyone for a work visa. So, if the candidate is in the United States on a work visaand the work visa expires, that person will no longer be eligible for employment withthe City. Payment for Services

Vendor may submit invoices for services rendered on a monthly basis. Invoices must identify the resource name, hourly rate, hours worked, total cost and a short description of services provided.
