JOB SUMMARY
Serve as the day-to-day lead within the Weiss Infusion Center and supervises the development, and organization of the infusion program. The Lead RN will coordinate the efforts between Lakefront Hematology/Oncology, Cancer Registry, Research, and staff.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
1. B.S.N. degree preferred with oncology background in clinical setting
2. 1 to 3 years experience as a Resource Person, Charge Nurse or nurse administrative
experience
3. Registered Nurse with current Illinois license
4. Demonstrated clinical experience
5. Proficient computer skills in word processing, database entry, e-mail, etc.
6. OCN certification
7. Effective problem solving skills
8. Able to communicate with patients, family and staff in a professional, friendly manner
9. Experience with patient/staff education
10. Strong detail-orientation and follow-up capacity
11. Excellent organizational skills
12. Ability to multitask
JOB DUTIES
Demonstrates the WMH VALUES, which are key in providing quality service to patients and customers. *
Leads regularly scheduled meetings with key staff ensuring they stay abreast of changing requirements in infusion including but not limited to coding changes, staff educational requirements, and infusion treatment changes.
Oversees and monitors clinical operations, and personnel, Assists Manager in establishing long and short-term goals.
Contributes to the education and development of nursing and allied health professionals. Ensures clinical knowledge base of staff, using in-services and/or conferences as needed. Facilitates staff and program research efforts.*
Collects, evaluates, and acts upon Quality Assessment data.
Participates in hospital/departmental committees.
Assists Manager with probationary and annual performance appraisals of Center personnel.*
Coordinates scheduling, insuring staff coverage of the Center.*
Participates as a resource to the inpatient care areas in the management, and nursing care of the Center’s patients. Assesses collected data, and develops a nursing plan of care.*
Assumes responsibility for maintaining own competency and continuing education in the area of specialization and in professional practice.
