Job/Position DescriptionClerk II works under the direction of the Assistant Chief Nurse with moderate supervision, limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgement. Performs routine (journey-level) clerical work related to the day-to-day operation of a inpatient unit or other support services. Work involves contact with patients, families, and hospital staff. Responsibilities include assisting with patients EMR task, processing forms, providing information and maintaining detailed records and files. Essential Job Functions1. Attends work on a regular basis and may be required to work a specific shift schedule or, at times, even a rotating schedule, extended shift and overtime per agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned.2. Provides assistance to hospital staff, patients and their families/visitors providing information and direction3. Sets up, maintains, duplicates, tracks, matches, thins records and files in accordance with established procedures.4. Files and maintains supplies, forms, documents, and reports.5. Completes and processes forms, letters, other records and charts in accordance with established procedures.6. Performs data entry and retrieval. May prepare charts, graphs and tables.7. Assist nursing staff with admission and other electronic medical record processes.8. Place work orders when necessary and follow up to ensure completion.9. May maintain office schedules, appointments and perform backup administrative duties.10. Answers telephones, take messages and responds to inquiries for routine information. To include answers, call bells.11. May arrange the scheduling, transfer, and display of surplus property; and may assist in conducting a physical inventory.12. Uses computer applications such as spread sheet, Microsoft word, email and database software in performing work assignments.13. Performs related work as assigned.14. Other duties as assigned include but are not limited to actively participating and serving in a supporting role to meet the agencyand#146;s obligations for disaster response and recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation. Such participation may require an alternate shift pattern assignment and location.Registrations, Licensure Requirements or CertificationsNONEKnowledge Skills Abilities1. Knowledge of office procedures; of spelling, punctuation, grammar, and arithmetic; and of business or program terminology, methods, and systems.2. Skill in the use of a computer related software and office equipment. 3. Ability to prepare and maintain records, files, and reports; to transfer stock from one location to another and to communicate effectively. Initial Screening Criteria1. Two yearsand#146; experience in clerical work with prior medical background.2. Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent is generally preferred.
