The Rescue Mission is currently seeking a Temporary Junior Accountant to work part-time in our Finance Dept. located in Syracuse, NY. The Junior Accountant provides financial information by assisting in the performance of the accounting responsibilities. The Junior Accountant is responsible for general day-to-day operation entries to assistant the Finance Department.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Prepare and record invoices for customer accounts.
Post customer and client payments by recording cash and checks.
Scanning, printing, and filing financial forms to assist with monthly grant vouchering.
Reconcile daily store transactions with bank activity.
Record daily store sales and donations into accounting software.
Communicate with procurement manager, staff, and vendors.
Contributions to the team effort by accomplishing all assigned tasks in a productive manner, focusing on quality workmanship.
Cross coverage as needed for other accounting positions.
Support financial guidelines and internal controls at the Rescue Mission.
Regular and predictable attendance is an essential requirement of the job.
Perform other necessary accounting duties as assigned.
Education Requirements
Associate degree desired or minimum of three years accounting/bookkeeping experience.
Must be able to work independently as well as thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, team environment.
Must have the ability to approach situations with a problem solving methodology.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Needed to Perform Effectively in this Position
Attention to detail is critical.
Good verbal and written skills.
Ability to work in fast paced, client focused, dynamic environment.
Accounting work experience.
Practical experience working with MS Office application.
Knowledge of MS products a plus (Excel & Word).
Additional Requirements
Valid NYS driver’s License.
Pay:
$16.00 – $20.00 per hour.
