Since 1946, Cummings has served many of the world's most iconic companies and organizations with sign manufacturing.SUMMARYThe Press Brake Operator will use a press brake to bend, shape, cut, and manipulate sheet metal and metal plates.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.Operate a press brake to manufacture products from sheet metal or metal plates.Prepare, set up, and adjust press brake as required by product plans and productions schedules.Ensure that there are sufficient raw materials available.Measure and align materials to be used.Inspect products, evaluating finished pieces for compliance with quality standards and specifications.SKILLLS/ABILITIESAbility to safely and effectively operate or learn to operate press brake controls.Ability to follow instructions.Ability to read, interpret, and follow product plans.Basic computer and math skills.EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCEHigh school diploma or general education degree (GED) and one year of experience in metal fabrication or related work preferred.REASONING ABILITYAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved written or oral instructions.Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.PHYSICAL DEMANDSPhysically able to operate the press brake.Prolonged periods of standing, pushing, pulling, lifting, and carrying materials.Must be able to lift 50 pounds at a time.WORK ENVIRONMENTThe work environment characteristics described here are representative of those and employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
