OVERVIEW:
The Senior Accountant, GL supports the monthly close process, analyzes and reconciles GL accounts, and participates in assigned audit responsibilities. The Senior Accountant position requires top-notch analytical skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, able to support month, quarter and year-end close responsibilities in a timely fashion. All work performed by the Senior Accountant will support compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) including audit ready schedules with IPE.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Ensure proper capitalization of fixed assets and depreciation. Enter all information into fixed accounting software and prepare monthly capitalization and depreciation entries for the general ledger. Prepare the monthly Fixed Asset Rollforward. Complete annual or quarterly impairment review.Annual OC Property tax returnAudit assistance for the annual external financial statement audit and any governmental agencies (e.g., OC Property tax audit).Prepare quarterly/annual government reporting (census, FBAR, etc.)Complete intercompany billings for EU sales and intercompany cross chargesComplete monthly review of European subsidiaries ensuring proper accruals, AP payments, request for funding and commercial sales billingComplete monthly fluctuation analysis for SG&A cost centersRecord monthly accruals for SG&A and R&D cost centers as assigned (including clinical study accruals)Record month end close payroll entries (workers comp, PTO accrual, bonus accrual) and reconcile GL accountsComplete monthly balance sheet reconciliations as assigned (fixed assets, payroll liabilities, etc.)Support the administration of the department's Close software (Blackline) and the company's requisition system (GRS) as assigned by the Associate DirectorResearch and resolve accounting issues.Complete ad hoc reporting and analysis as requestedOther duties as assignedREQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Advanced MS ExcelSolid understanding of U.S. GAAPAbility to write routine reports and correspondence.Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ration, and percent.Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.Must have good phone skills and interact well with others.Must present themselves professionally.Requires minimal supervision.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
