Title: Network Design Engineer

Location: 100% Remote

Type: Contract

Job Description:

The Network Design Engineer is responsible for designing and implementing system data networks that meet the company and business user's requirements and are supportable by the System and Network Operations team, follow all corporate security policies, and provide a technically effective architecture. They are also responsible for developing infrastructure design documents and assist in developing the appropriate support procedures.

Responsibilities:

Strong network design skillset leveraging tools such as Visio. Candidate must be comfortable creating and presenting schematics to architecture teams for signoff

Formulates, defines and designs network project scope and objectives based on business needs and a thorough understanding of systems and requirements

Works with internal customers to gather project requirements

Provides project tracking to ensure the project and day-to-day work schedules are being met

Design network solution adhering to enterprise standards and InfoSec security policies

Writes/draws network documentation including procedures to ensure a smooth turnover to the Implementation and Network Operations support teams

Develop network strategies to assist with migration of data for data center projects.

Lead small team of engineers to implement larger projects.

Investigates, recommends and installs enhancements and operating procedures that optimize network availability.

Maintains confidentiality with regard to the information being processed, stored or accessed by the network Leads complex audit efforts.

Documents network designs for future reference into a centralized storage facility (i.e., SharePoint)

Assists in the development of SOWs for network projects, etc

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in computer science/related field

Minimum ten years of experience with networking

Minimum 5 years of experience with network design

CCIE Enterprise Infrastructure (Formerly Route/Switch)

Preferred secondary CCIE in either Security or Data Center or equivalent expert level industry certification.

Expert level knowledge in networking routing protocols, including BGP and OSPF

Excellent written and oral communication skills

Building new L2/L3 Visio diagrams from Data Flow Diagrams

Understanding and experience in F5 Load Balancers

Strong security background with advanced knowledge of both Palo Alto and Checkpoint firewalls

Strong background of WAN technologies including overlay technologies, such as MPLS, DMVPN, SD-WAN, etc

Strong understanding of and experience designing for Cisco ACI.

Required Knowledge and Skill

Expert level knowledge in networking routing protocols, including BGP and OSPF

Excellent written and oral communication skills

Building new L2/L3 Visio diagrams from Data Flow Diagrams

Understanding and experience in F5 Load Balancers
