The Superintendent of Schools announces the following position within the Fall River Public School System:Position: Occupational Therapist (O.T.)Job Description: The Occupational Therapy assistant works with students with disabilities by implementing theprescribed occupational therapy process. They are responsible for developing and writing the student's IndividualEducation Plan (IEP), and overseeing the Occupational Therapy Assistants who are implementing the plan prescribedin the IEP.

Performance Responsibilities:1. Formulate, write and implement Individual Education Plans and attend IEP meetings2. Supervise Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants and/or graduate students and clinical fellows3. Provide consultation to general education and special education staff regarding student needs and bestpractices4. Administer a variety of standardized assessment tools, write detailed reports, summarize the results andprovide recommendations to teams5. Monitor student progress through the collection of data6. Adapt and modify the environment including assistive technology and training instructional staff to meetindividual needs and to help students function as independently as possible7. Meet all district, state and federal requirements for the program to which you are assigned, including IEP andProgress Report deadlines8. Create a positive educational environment for all students using a multi-tiered system of supports9. Use professional quality communication skills to convey information to the student's team10. Remain current with accepted and appropriate instructional theory, practice and research. Including engagingin regular and strategic professional development to stay current in best practices for diverse learners

Required Qualifications:1. Masters degree preferred2. Current certification through the Board of Allied Health Professions3. Prior experience working in an educational setting4. Demonstrate collaborative instructional ability5. Experience working with students with disabilities

The Superintendent of Schools reserves the right to waive a position qualification or determine that there is anacceptable alternative to that qualification. If the Superintendent intends to waive a qualification, such intent will beshared with the Fall River School Committee.

SALARY AND TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: In accordance with the Fall River Educators' Associationcontract Unit A. Continued employment is contingent on work performance, program need, and funding.
