Per Diem Cardiac Surgery Advanced Practitioner (NP/PA)- Danbury, Connecticut (60 miles from New York City)
Danbury Hospital, now part of Nuvance Health, is seeking multiple per diem Cardiac Surgery Advanced Practitioners (Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant) for a role that includes but not limited to ICU, step down coverage, hospital consults and some office for our 24/7 service. We are located in Danbury, Connecticut, about 60 miles northeast of New York City in suburban Fairfield County, near the border of Westchester and Putnam Counties in New York.
The ideal candidate will be a board-certified nurse practitioner/physician assistant with previous experience in Cardiac Surgery ICU patient management and procedures. The position includes rotating day and night shift coverage. The department has two Cardiac surgeons and five Cardiac Surgery PAs. This is a seasoned team with a growing case volume that includes traditional open heart, CABG, valve, MIS, and TAVR.
Established in 1885, Danbury Hospital is a not-for-profit community hospital providing Greater Danbury area residents convenient access to exceptional care. Danbury Hospital has 371 beds and is a Level II Trauma Center with approximately 70,000 ED visits per year. As a teaching hospital, we are associated with University of Vermont College of Medicine, Yale University School of Medicine, Ross University School of Medicine and the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine. Our employed Medical Practice includes 1000+ physicians and advanced practice providers, serving a geographically broad region throughout Western Connecticut and eastern New York.
Danbury, Connecticut, located on the border of New York State, is about 60 miles northeast of New York City and 60 miles west of Hartford, CT. As part of the greater NY metropolitan area, the city of Danbury enjoys both proximity to New York City culture and access to a wide array of four season indoor and outdoor recreational activities. Boston, New York City, New Haven and Hartford are easily accessible.
Job Requirements:
Graduate of an approved Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) training programCT State PA/NP license, State of CT Controlled Substance Registration, and Federal DEAPrevious experience in Cardiothoracic ICUPrevious experience in Cardiac Surgery OR [vein harvest, first assist] preferable but not requiredBoard certificationACLS & BLS certificationMust maintain 50 CME's over two yearsStrong Interpersonal and communication skills
