bout the Facility - Washington DC VAMCThe Washington DC VA Medical Center provides acute inpatients and outpatient medical care to Veterans in Cardiology, Dermatology, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Hepatology, Infectious Disease (including AIDS), Nephrology, Oncology, Pulmonary Disease (including Dialysis), Rheumatology and Hematology. Medical Service provides Veterans with access to Primary Care and to the consultative services of each of the subspecialties of medicine. Also offered are the specialized procedures and treatment regimens unique to each subspecialty. Physical Therapist RESPONSIBILITIES (listed are included but not limited to)
The PT shall be responsible for planning, reviewing and implementing treatment programs based upon initial and interim evaluations.Communicating and collaborating with patients, family members, caregivers, and interdisciplinary professionals.dapts assessment tools and treatments to the complexity of the diagnosis or disabilities and demonstrates the clinical reasoning necessary to identify the need for further in-depth specific assessment of function and utilization of non-standard methods and techniques.Documents plan of care and care given in patient's medical record.Monitors patient's response to interventions, modifies treatment plan, and reevaluates as indicated to meet short-term and long-term goals.Expected to interpret findings from examination and evaluation, select appropriate tests and measures, and integrate findings into the physical therapy plan of care for the full range of patient populations.Measures patients for assistive devices and special equipment.Fits devices for patient needs and instructs patient/care provider in the use of these devices.The Physical Therapist will develop home programs for patients as needed prior to discharge and instructs patient, family, or caregivers in implementation of home program.Provides consultation, as needed, to peers and other staff responsible for the care of the assigned patient.Provides clinical oversite and collaboration with physical therapy assistants.Provides patient care which is appropriate to cognitive, emotional, and chronological maturation needs of young adults (18-45 years old), middle adults (45-65 years old) and older adults (65-older) patients.Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served.ssures section compliance with all applicable standards such as CARF and the Joint Commission and National Patient Safety Goals.Maintains equipment and clinic in a safe and orderly manner in accordance with safety and infection control policies, Joint Commission, CARF regulations and other relevant policies.
Physical Therapist - Qualifications
Shall have a full and unrestricted license in a state, Territory or Commonwealth of the United States of the District of Columbia.Current AHA Basic Life Support certification.Minimum of two years current experience.Must be a graduate from a program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE).
