Clinical Nutrition (Part-time, Variable Shift) -

The Clinical Dietitian completes inpatient and outpatient nutritional assessments and reassessments according to scheduled timeframes, as well as implementing appropriate interventions to improve the nutritional outcome of patients requiring a specialized program. Provides nutrition education to patients and family members, mentoring diet technicians, and acting as a clinical preceptor and educator to dietetic students and other health care team members. Provides in-services to clinical staff and serves as a nutrition knowledge base for interns, residents, and attending physicians. Must be available to work weekends and holidays. Performs other duties as needed.

Graduate of accredited school with Bachelor's Degree in Food and Nutrition or Dietetics including successful completion of clinical practicum experience required. Master's Degree preferred. Minimum 3 years general clinical registered dietitian (RD) experience in an acute-care setting required. Current Registered Dietitian (RD) certification from the Commission on Dietetic Registration required. Current advanced credential in one of the following specialty areas: CNSC, CDE, CSP, CSR.

Broad knowledge base of clinical nutrition in an acute-care setting. Handling/gripping, speed movements, fine dexterity skills are necessary for this position. Able to effectively operate a calculator, computer, pager, copy machine and telephone. Must be able to communicate effectively with others, collaborate and accept direction. Able to work calmly and courteously under pressure, display a positive and professional demeanor to patients, visitors, and co-workers, and be able to consistently enforce Medical Center policies. Able to organize and prioritize workload and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Must be detail-oriented, possess reasoning and problem-solving skills, and mathematical skills. Able to competently read, write and speak English. Ability to speak Spanish is highly desirable. Ability to problem solve; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail; work independently with minimal supervision. Able to distinguish colors as necessary; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone and identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the workplace; see adequately to read computer screens, and written documents necessary to the position.
