Medical Call Taker & EMS Dispatcher (Afternoon/Evening Shift)

InstaCare EMS is seeking new and experienced Emergency Medical Call Takers & Dispatchers to work from our Brooklyn headquarters located in Coney Island.

All communications flows through our Operations Center. This includes communication between ambulance crews, callers, hospitals, management and others. The position requires a strong team player with a professional attitude, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to work well under pressure.
Duties and Responsibilities :
Works directly with hospitals, healthcare provider, facilities, patients, patient's family members and patient caretakers' to arrange ambulance transportVerifies patients' insurance coverage, benefits, and co-paysManages high volume phone callsProcesses credit card paymentsDispatches appropriate ambulance resources using radio codes and practicesSkills of the Call Taker/ Dispatcher:
Knowledge of Medical TerminologyFamiliarity with health insurance plans, including Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insuranceExcellent verbal/written interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to communicate clearly in EnglishStrong attention to detailEffectively multi-task in a fast paced environmentAbility to establish strong working relationships with personnel from multiple departments and divisionsFlexibility in scheduling flexibility***This position is primarily for afternoon/evening shifts, however, due to the nature of the EMS industry we operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. May be asked to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed***
Qualifications:
Previous Emergency Medical Services (EMS) experience, strongly preferredPrevious experience utilizing Computer Assisted Dispatch (CAD) systems or similar systems
