The opportunity now is to join a rocketship as we prepare for the next stage of growth, and an eventual public listing.**About the role**Reporting to the Corporate Controller, the Director of Inventory and Cost Accounting will be a key member of the finance team and financial business partner for the business operations. In addition to analyzing and interpreting financial performance, this position will work closely with Ops Finance processes and analysis related to annual budgeting, quarterly forecasting, month-end closings, and other ad-hoc reporting. This position requires strong leadership and presentation ability, cost accounting expertise, an analytical mindset, critical thinking, adaptability, organizational and task management skills. The right person is comfortable wearing many hats. They enjoy working in a collaborative environment and are a self-starter.**Responsibilities*** Recruit, hire, coach, mentor, train and develop the cost accounting team.* Oversee all cost accounting activities including the compilation and review of cost and accumulation data, operating reports, break-even point identification, margin breakdowns, variance investigations, process constraint analysis, target costing projects, profit and loss statements, inventory reviews and vendor comparisons as well the analysis of and improvements to all related processes.* Responsible for all inventory cost accounting related activities including month end close, balance sheet reconciliations, standard cost setting, inventory management, and related overhead absorptions.* Work with the warehouse inventory control team to monitor, track and improve the inventory count (cycle count) process and inventory accuracy.* Work closely with the supply chain team to understand delivery schedules, contracts, inventory movements and other supply chain matters in order to ensure inventory is fairly stated on the balance sheet.* Create processes to perform variance analysis such as Purchase Price Variance, Usage Variance, Efficiency Variance and Labor Rate Variance.* Develop Activity Base Costing for overhead departments.* Review, report and provide commentary/analysis of costs against prior periods, plan and latest forecast.* Participate in the maintenance and review for purchased SKUs and prepare cost estimates for new SKUs as needed.* Partner with different functions of the business to ensure accuracy and control of master data related to Item Master, Bill of Materials, Product Router and Inventory Transactions Types.+ Perform financial analysis regarding business performance, with the overall objective of assisting and guiding the regional teams.+ Supports Operations in preparing monthly business review meetings by helping to prepare explanations of variances to Forecast.+ Develop and document controls, processes and procedures related to inventory and cost accounting.+ Assist with and ensure successful quarterly and year end audits, including managing physical inventory counts at year-end.+ Provide leadership and take accountability for identifying and driving process and systems improvements initiatives.+ Prepare ad hoc reporting and analyses and assist team with research on cost accounting questions and assist with special projects as requested* Collaborate with warehouse management to drive best practices in terms of receiving, shipping, and inventory management that support the achievement of inventory accuracy goals.**Qualifications*** This is an exciting role, supporting and building the accounting function in a high growth environment.
