>> Buyer Buyer Summary Title:BuyerID:11209Department:PurchasingFacility Name:American Display & FixtureLocation:Chattanooga, TNDescription **Buyer**As a Buyer with American Display and Fixture (ADF) you will be responsible for procuring, at minimum total costs, the necessary materials, components and sub-assemblies required for ADF to manufacture its products in an effective and efficient manner.Negotiate for and procure a variety of commodities including those which are non-standard or of a technical nature. Develop suppliers to meet our quality, delivery, and cost requirements while maintaining appropriate inventory levels.**Specific Responsibilities Include:*** Utilize in house tools (MRP, etc.) to determine items to procure and dates by which they need to arrive.* Evaluate specifications of items needed and identify/qualify vendors to provide such items.* Prepare purchasing documentation and verify specifications of purchasing requisitions.* Develop expertise on procurement of commodities (steel, wood, etc.) related products and components that support ADFs requirements.* Support, and when required lead, cost reduction projects and improvement initiatives to achieve overall business objectives.* Update and maintain purchase orders in MRP system for changes in design and delivery requirements.* Balance current and future demand requirements with supplier capabilities / capacities to ensure on-time delivery of purchased parts.* Evaluate supplier performance requirements including quality, cost and delivery expectations.* Work with suppliers for improved quality, on-time delivery, lead time, and price performance. Evaluate these metrics with the critical suppliers regularly and report results to ADF management.**Experience/Education:*** Bachelors degree (B.A. or B.S.) in Business or Engineering discipline from four-year, accredited, college or university or equivalent experience.* Four (4) + years of sourcing/purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment.* Direct experience sourcing/purchasing raw materials.* Capacity to logically solve problems and manage projects by utilizing a data-driven, detail-oriented, approach.* Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills to communicate effectively.* Strong MS Excel skills.* Experience effectively using systems to gather and analyze data to assure items needed are procured in a timely manner per the specifications required for manufacturing.* Proven use of negotiation techniques and tactics.* Self-motivated flexible team-player, with the persistence to following through on commitments in a timely manner.* Ability to multi-task in fast paced, deadline driven environment, as well as a strong attention to detail and accuracy.
