Standard high school diploma or GED

Minimum 6 months - 2 years' experience maintaining customer accounts

Ability to organize, maintain and retrieve detailed information in an efficient manner

Receives, reviews, and processes applications for business tax receipts.• Reviews supporting documentation such as certificates of use, state licenses, and all other required

documents.• Consults customers and staff from and other departments in person or over the telephone concerning

procedures for obtaining a business tax receipt and information regarding city, county and state business tax

receipt requirements.• Refers customers to appropriate City, County, State, and Federal agencies for further assistance in meeting

requirements for a business tax receipt.• Verifies information provided in applications and supporting documentation through State and local

databases.• Files and maintains records.

May perform other clerical duties such as sorting and mailing Business Tax Receipts.• Performs other related work as required.

Some knowledge of the provisions for business tax receipts as stipulated in Chapter 86 of the City of Hialeah Code of Ordinances.• Some knowledge of databases such as: SunBiz and the other various State of Florida databases and City of Hialeah databases.• Some knowledge of general record keeping practices.• Some knowledge of computer based applications, such as Microsoft Office.• Ability to interpret rules, regulations and policies, and to make decisions in accordance with established

procedures.• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees, government officials

and the general public.• Ability to organize, maintain and retrieve detailed information in an efficient manner.

A standard high school diploma or GED and minimum (6 months - 2 years) experience maintaining customer

accounts in a customer service environment OR• Equivalent combination of training and experience beyond a standard high school diploma or GED
