Who We Are Looking ForWe are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Data Scientist to join our hardworking team in developing and refining data-driven, test-based approaches to drive marketing strategy and execution for an emerging IP in the 2K portfolio.

The ideal candidate is adept at using large data sets to find opportunities for product and process optimization and using models to test the effectiveness of marketing actions and product decisions. They must have strong experience using a variety of data mining/data analysis methods, using various data tools, building and implementing models, using/creating algorithms and creating/running basic simulations. The right candidate will have a passion for discovering solutions hidden in large data sets and a talent for predicting the potential implications and outcomes of myriad approaches and decisions based on historical outcomes of our own products and competing franchises, current and past, throughout the industry.

This role requires a strong relationship builder, as they will partner closely with key cross functional Publishing teams to identify, model, and implement solutions.

They must be an articulate communicator and instill the same in their team to ensure key findings are shared in a clear and timely manner, enhancing impact and influence on a wide range of live service and commercial business decisions.

What You Will Do

Establish vision and operationalize large datasets into consumable insights and important metrics reports.

Build & maintain partner relationships with cross-functional teams through effective technical and non-technical cross-functional communication.

Take the lead in transforming our customer telemetry to build player level propensity to buy models, lifetime value models, and forecasting models. Focus on driving behavioral modeling standards within the team and across 2K.

Lead the development of customized frameworks to objectively measure the impact of marketing initiatives on engagement and monetization and create sustainable tracking to monitor player behavior. Drive an experimentation culture and ultimately report on the value of marketing to the business.

Become an expert on product performance and player behavior trends around new game launches.

Explore new datasets, provide definitions for metrics, and create aggregations used for reporting and analysis. Provide guidance to team members on using new marketing data or telemetry collected.

Analyze, visualize, and communicate the ongoing performance trends, strategic insights, and optimization recommendations to partners.

Mentor, manage, and aid the professional development of the 2K Graduate program members and provide guidance to more junior team members.

What We Think Would Be A Good Fit

5+ years of demonstrated ability in data mining & analytics with very large, sophisticated, and multi-dimensional data sets.

Exceptional analytical and quantitative skills, and business judgment to drive sophisticated scenario models and apply insights to strategy and planning.

Experience working with paid and unpaid marketing channels; channel attribution experience is a plus

In-depth experience with sophisticated database mining tools with extensive SQL skills. Proficiency with data visualization tools a plus, Tableau or Looker preferred.

Strong experience with predictive modeling techniques, accomplished in using R or Python for predictive modeling and machine learning, including understanding the strengths and weaknesses of different modeling approaches. Demonstrated ability in deploying predictive models to production. AWS or Databricks experience is a plus.

Experience with project management and communication tools such as Asana, Confluence, JIRA, and Slack.

Extensive experience with relational databases, SQL (experience with Snowflake is a big plus) and/or experience with big data technologies.

Video games industry experience with a strong focus on marketing activations and outcomes

Independent thinking that can take the initiative and approach problem solving with an innovative mindset and focus on scalable solutions

Comfortable with ambiguity and thinking through multiple perspectives with the ability to stay grounded in the face of change

The pay range for this position in California at the start of employment is expected to be between $100,000 and $155,000 per Year. However, base pay offered is based on market location, and may vary further depending on individualized factors for job candidates, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to those same considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a bonus and/or equity awards, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an 'at-will position' and the company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
