Senior contributor that is fully proficient in applying established standards; knowledge base acquired from several years of experience in the area of Database EngineeringSupervises, constructs, and coaches team of database engineersLeads projects in design, development, implementation and management of databasesDevelops database architectures to address business requirements, ensuring system scalability, security, performance and reliabilityConstructs data decomposition diagrams, provides data flow diagrams and documents the processDesigns database applications such as interfaces, data transfer mechanisms and data partitions to enable efficient access of the generic database structure.Creates plans for architecture updates and integrates new systems with existing warehouse structure to refine performance/functionalityLeverages in-depth knowledge and expertise of database technologies, along with solid programming, design and system analysis skillsPartners with Software Architects and Software Developers on data access methods and decisions on optimal data structures for persistenceOverall responsibility for all production database environmentsAudits database environments to ensure appropriate use and compatibility with County standardsAssesses data extraction, report generation, and bugs appearing in operations involving the data warehousePerforms other related technology duties and projects as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a relevant degree, 5-7 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experienceExpert knowledge with stored procedures, data batch processing, and data as a service; expert knowledge with SQL and SSRS (SQL Server 2008-2016)Skill in Agile Methodology; skill in managing data operations for data at rest, data exchange, batch processing, and data reportingAbility to effectively communicate complex ideas in a clear and concise manner across functional and technical departments, both verbally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, stakeholders, County employees, Elected/Appointed Officials, outside organizations and agencies, vendors and the general publicDemonstrates technological intuitivenessMust secure and maintain a favorable background investigation and clearanceMust clear a pre-employment physical and a pre-employment drug screen testMust have available transportation during entire workdayRequired to travel to remote sites within Bexar CountyMust have valid driver's license, motor vehicle liability insurance and personal injury insuranceRequired to be on call 24 hoursMay be required to work more than 40 hours during the workweekMay be required to work weekendsPreferred Certification/License:
